ON THE ROUTE OF RESIDENTIAL SEATS OF ARISTOCRATIC FAMILIES

A three day trip to trace historic sites dating back to 16 and 17th centuries. The time when Poland was known as a country of religious freedom and well-developed "noble democracy". These centuries witnessed Poland to be one of the most powerful countries in Europe. Its territory covered l million km2 and the population reached the level of 15 million. Its wealth based on wheat, wood and honey production put Poland among such superpowers as France, England and Spain. The skillful policy of kings, efficient political system and Magnate families made the economy of Poland thrive. Who were the magnates? They were nobles who owned vast estates consisting of towns, countless number of villages and subjects. They had also their own... army. These were the people who founded renaissance and baroque castles, palaces and churches.
All of these you will enjoy when travelling with us. Living in their residences, often called estates - in - tails, the magnates were trendsetters in their neighborhood. Later, their ambition and unlimited freedom led to the disaster: partition of Poland and lost of independence for 124 years.

Day l
8.00 - departure from Kraków,
10.00 - arriving in Tarnów, sightseeing Tarnów - a pearl of gothic, renaissance and baroque architecture: a lecture on The Ostrogski and Tarnowski Families - magnates who developed the town, The Cathedral of Tarnów, famous for gothic and renaissance gravestone monuments, The Cathedral Museum with the biggest collection of gothic triptychs, lunch in Rom's restaurant, a short lecture on religious freedom and development of ethnical groups in former Poland, departure from Tarnów at 13.30.
15.30 - arrival in Łańcut: visiting The Museum Castle in Łańcut - one of the most splendid magnate seats in Poland. It's a complex of a museum of interiors, the biggest in Europe collection of carriages and an English park.
17.30 - departure for Markowa - a village with an open-air museum of old cottages dating back to 18 and 19th centuries, next a typical peasant's supper. Those hungry for music will have an opportunity to listen to folk music, a short lecture on customs and way of life of serves in former Poland.
A night rest in hotel in Rzeszów or in Łańcut.

Day 2
9.00 - breakfast,
10.00 - visiting a unique Museum-Distillery in Łańcut, sampling liquors, spirits and other specialities,
11.00 - departure for Medynia, a portery centre, workshop on portery making.
12.00 - leaving for Leżajsk, visiting a baroque basilica and ... a concert of organ music.
12.45 - departure for Sieniawa - an aristocratic seat of The Sieniawski and Czartoryski Families, a dinner of traditional dishes.
15.00 - departure for Krasiczyn - a pearl of renaissance architecture and a seat of The Krasickis and Sapiehas, a show "The light and the sound", the tour around the castle includes an impressive collection of torture tools, a supper in the Magnate's chambers accompanied by renaissance music.
20.00 - back in Łańcut for a night rest.

Day 3
9.00 - breakfast,
10.00 - departure for Rzeszów - the capital city of Podkarpackie Province, visiting The Lubomirski Castle and the underground route: a labyrinth of cellars and a dungeon.
12.00 - departure for Kraków, on the way visiting The Knights' Castle in Dębno, lunch with variety of traditional dishes and sampling specialties of a local brewery,
17.30 - we are back in Kraków.
